Love is the Law, Love under Will.
Welcome to Arvid Smith's web site. For four decades Arvid has been working within and outside of the musical box. His eclectic approach succeeds in molding diverse elements into distinct and unified musical works. "Sure, how many times have I heard that one?" you may ask, but his output has won critical acclaim from some very distinct and diverse areas. How many performers out there could count both The Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts and CBGBs on their venue list?
As a founder member of Tammerlin (with Lee Hunter) he garnered praise from critics in the folk/americana arena (see the above link) and his contributions to the ambient genre and holistic yoga environs are winning new listeners daily. Whether performing on sitar, lap steel, acoustic fingerstyle 12 string (in the American Primitive style) or the searing leads of the electric blues guitar, Arvid leaves his mark.
His soundscapes have graced independent film and video projects and his solo performances incorporate those very sounds and ideas into entertaining and up to the minute club sets.
Peace & Praises to you all.

The Pleasures of sweet incense. I have just recently found a source for Aparijita varietal incense. I first became aware of this rare treasure when I aquired my first sitar back in 2003. A box of it came with the instrument ( lovingly set up by Buckingham Music of Austin). A note said that it was the preferred scent of Panditji Ravi Shankar and ,his most famous disciple , our beloved Hari Georgeson. I savored each stick and then discovered it was a discontinued item. Rain City Music to the rescue ,however, as this wonderful source of quality instruments and accessories (to date: a sitar, dilruba, a swaramandala/sangum, and numerous narkas, mizrabs and untold coils of sitar wire) now keeps it in stock.
Indeed, the world is a new place each time I light up.
